Over that past few years we have been blessed with the opportunity to visit the country of Haiti on several short term trips. There are many opportunities there to serve but one story that has gripped our hearts is that of a local woman named Mme Soliette who has answered the call to take in orphans who have been abandoned in her home town. We personally have seen this hero face the impossible, and despite limited resources she now cares for 80 children.
A group of volunteers from different organizations around the world have also been impacted by this story, and have joined together to come along side of Mme Soliette and her efforts to care for these children. This grass roots co-op, called Okipe (okipe.org), has asked our family to take on a more influential role in this effort.
After much prayer and consideration we feel without a doubt that God has been calling, equipping, and preparing our hearts to do just this and we have humbly accepted the role of the next Okipe in-country representatives! In October we will be moving to Haiti to serve in this position for the next two years.
We are excited to see how God will continue to lead in this journey with Him. We covet your prayers as our family works through the details of this life change.
