Fighting Sleep

Why is it that toddlers fight sleep? I would give almost anything to take a nap or go to bed at 9:00! This past week, we have been struggling with naps and bedtime with Morgan. Our schedule has been crazy and we have been away from home a lot the past couple months, and so I think that may be part of it. Every night this past week, either Craig or myself usually end up laying with her so that she will fall asleep. We do not want this to become a routine, so we have started just sitting by the wall in her room. Hopefully, we will get back to just laying her down, reading a book, saying prayers and getting out. Well, naptimes usually go a bit better - not today. So, I told her that she didn't have to sleep, but that she needed to stay in her bed and rest. She could read her books if she wanted. Well, after getting out of bed twice, two spankings, and a half hour later, this is what I found:

So, for the next 2 1/2 -3 hours, all is well in the Janofski household.

Awe, how precious! Someday when she doesn't have time for naps anymore she'll appreciate them just like us! :-)

I think it must be a stage, Joshua's always been an easy sleeper and he's really fighting naps and bedtime too! Maybe summer is worse because we're off our routine AND it gets dark later. Hopefully they'll be back to normal soon. :)

This is always an issue at our house too. Ugh, so not fun to have a toddler that needs serious sleep yet refuses to get it! Lilla hasn't wanted to take a nap lately so I've let her sit on her bed and read, it's usually still a struggle to keep her in her room for longer than 20 minutes. What are you gonna do?
